Carrot halwa

Carrot Halwa or Gajar ka halwa is one of the famous dessert in india.  Quick and very easy recipe and it will not consume much time.  Rich Indian Dessert made with fresh carrots, milk and sugar and ghee added.  Actually carrot halwa originates from North india.  We made our version of carrot halwa.

Ingredients for carrot halwa


Carrot grated – 2 cup
Milk – 1 cup
Sugar – ½ cup
Cashew nut broken – 20nos.
Raisins – 15No.
Cardamom – little
Ghee – 1½  tbspn

Preparation of Carrot halwa


Heat the pan and add ghee and let the ghee heated up then add cashew nut, raisins and let it get fried and add the grated carrot let the carrot turn to pale orange colour and then add milk.  Let the grated carrot cooked in milk.  Keep the flame in medium and cook.  The milk will be evaporated and grated carrot will be soft and at this stage add sugar.

The Sugar, Grated carrot and milk and everything binded together and it will not catch in the vessel and this is final stage to remove from flame.  Now the delicious dessert Carrot halwa (Kajar ka halwa) ready to serve.  Kids like this Carrot (Kajar ka halwa) very much.

Garlic Porridge

Garlic Porridge is one of the easily digestible porridge with very few ingredients.   We made this with Garlic, Rice, Green Gram, fenugreek, milk etc.   The consistency we are preparing is bit like curd rice consistency and if you want more dilute you can add milk or hot water as per the required consistency. Ingredients for Garlic Porridge Rice – 1 ¼ Cup Green mung dal / green gram – ¼ cup Fenugreek – 1 tspn Garlic – 3 Milk – 250 ml Salt to taste Transfer the rice, green gram, fenugreek in washing bowl and wash thoroughly and transfer this to pressure cooker with garlic cloves, salt and 5 glass of water for this quantity. Cook this in pressure cooker for 6 whistles. Wait till the pressure subsides in the pressure cooker and mix it will well and add the boiled milk with it and mix again.
