Yam cutlet or Suran cutlet is very tasty and
healthy cutlet. Yam is rich in fibre which
is good for those who have piles problem.
We prepared Yam cutlet using only simple ingredients and we have fried
in tawa and we have not done deep fry.
Eventually it consists of less oil and second thing children’s will definitely
like this. You can serve this as evening
snacks with coffee or tea. So prepare
this and enjoy.
Ingredients for Yam Cutlet
Yam – ½ kg
Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
Cumin Seed – 1 tspn
Black Pepper – 1 tspn
Fennel seeds – 1 tspn
Cloves – 4
Rice flour – 50 g
Curry leaves – little
Coriander leaves – little
Green chilli – 1
Ginger – Small piece
Lemon – 1
Preparation
First peel the skin of the yam and cut in to cubes
as shown below and wash thoroughly.
Now keep the pan and add 2 cups of water and add
little salt and pinch of turmeric powder and let the water to boil.
In the meantime transfer the Cumin seed, Black
pepper, Fennel seeds and cloves to the blender jar for grinding and grind to
coarse powder and keep ready.
Chop the green chilly, Coriander leaves and ginger. In the boiling water now add thoroughly
washed yam cubes and keep the flame in medium and lid it for more than 15
minutes.
After it cooked well, drain the water completely in
my Youtube video(I have given the video below) we have not drained the water that’s
why the consistency was little bit loose.
So drain the remaining water completely and let the yam pieces to cool.
Then mash the yam pieces and add chopped coriander
leaves, curry leaves, chopped ginger, green chilli and grinded powder (Black
pepper, Cumin seed, Cloves and fennel seeds) and check the salt if require add
little more salt.
Mix it well the mashed yam and make a ball and coat
with rice flour and tap to flat round shape.
The shape you can make as per your preference we made in flat round
shape. Make all the mashed in the same
manner and keep ready for fry.
Keep the tawa in flame and grease the surface with
oil and keep the flame in sim. Now place the round flat shaped mashed yam in
hot tawa and sprinkle little oil to fry.
Turn to other side and do the same again and fry till you get golden
brown colour. Now the delicious Yam
